Do you have a favourite underwater adventure? If you would like to expand and refine youor skills in a specialst area, you should sign up for one of our Padi Specialty Diver courses. Some specialty courses are available to Open Water Divers, others to Advanced Open Water Divers.

What's involved?

 

Underwater Navigator - 3 dives

Learn how to find your way around underwater. This course will teach you

* methods to estimate distance underwater

* compass navigation with multiple turns

* relocating/marking an object underwater or from the surface

* underwater map making

 

Deep Diver - 4 dives

The lure of the deep is waiting. Find out how much more you can discover.

This course will teach you

* about specialized deep diving equipment

* deep dive planning, buddy control procedures and bouyancy control

* managing your air supply, dealing with gas narcosis and safety considerations

 

 

Search and Recovery Diver - 4 dives

Learn how to find your way around underwater. This course will teach you

* methods to estimate distance underwater

* compass navigation with multiple turns

* relocating/marking an object underwater or from the surface

* underwater map making

 

 

Wreck Diver - 4 dives

Wrecks come in all shapes and sizes and are underwater for many reasons.

This course will teach you

* safety considerations for navigating and exploring wrecks

* surveying and mapping a wreck

* using penetrations and lines to guide exploration

* techniques to avoid kicking up silt or disturbing the wreck and its inhabitants

 

 

Digital Underwater Photography - 2 dives Bring your own digital camera

Take with you photos that you have captured yourself.

This course will teach you

* how to choose the best underwater camera system for you

* the PADI SEA (Shoot, Examine, Adjust) method for getting great shots quickly

* principles for good composition of underwater images

* practical techniques to take great photos with your digital camera

 

 

Peak Performance Buoyancy - 3 dives

Refine that feeling of weightlessness.

On this course you'll learn

* the exact weight you should carry, so you're not too light or too heavy

* to trim your weight system and scuba kit so that you gain the ultimate balance

* how to streamline to save energy, use air more efficiently and move more smoothly through the water

* hover perfectly in any position - vertically or horizontally

 

 

Project AWARE Specialist - half day

How can you start helping your local environment?

In this classroom based course you will learn

* how Project AWARE unites SCUBA divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference

* about environmental issues in the ocean commons and coastal zones

* about fisheries challenges and sustainability problems

* what's happening to coral reefs and its inhabitants

* Your role in protecting aquatic environments

 

Night Diver - 3 dives

Find out what the fish do when the sun goes down.

On this course you will learn

* light handling and communication techniques

* entering, navigating and exiting the water in the dark

* identify how plants and animal change/ differ at night

 

 

Surface Marker Buoy Distinctive Specialty - 2 dives

Surface marker buoys (SMBs) allow scuba divers to mark boundaries for mapping or search and recovery, alert boat traffic, or provide a line as a visual reference for ascending divers.

On this course you will learn

* proper techniques and protocols for using an SMB

* to perfect your skills in deploying delayed surface marker buoys (DSMBs)

*etiquette and local rules in SMB use

 

Emergency Oxygen Provider - half day

Would you know how to respond in a diver Emergency?

In this classroom based course you will learn

*about dive injuries

*different types of emergency oxygen equipment

*safety considerations when using oxygen

*how to assembe and disassemble emergency oxygen equipment

*deploying a non-rebreather mask and a demand inhalator valve on a breathing diver

* about using a pocket mask on a nonbreathing diver
